Description

I’ve read many foraging books that have provided comprehensive pictures so that seems a bit of a cop out to me, not even illustrations so at least we could get the gist of what it kind of looks like and then if we do want to attempt finding it in the wild we could reference his guide? I love ebook versions of these sort of things because I can check them on the kindle app on my phone when I'm out and about. He has been recommended in BBC Good Food magazine, Sainsbury's magazine as well as in The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph etc.

Cautions for plants, where necessary are given and if the plant has any other interesting uses then these are also covered. In only a few weeks this exceptional book has helped increase my knowledge of and awareness of, the wild larder that is always within our grasp. Instead, you can download the accompanying PDF photo identification guide that includes multiple full-colour photographs of each plant to help make identification easy.I absolutely love this book, it is a very valuable foraging companion on wild walks and as reference when I teach forest school.

It comes with a free downloadable PDF photo identification guide that includes multiple full-colour photographs of each plant to help make identification easy. This guide is here to help keep you safe, however, please ensure that you use multiple sources for identifying plants. minute review of Robin Harford’s lovely new book on The Edible and Medicinal plants of Britain and Ireland. Instead of providing a snapshot for each plant, Harford gives a link to a database of pictures which give a more indepth photography for each plant and a better resource for identification. My book is considered an invaluable addition to any forager, herbalist, gardener, horticulturist or naturalist’s library. Its a bit tricky trying to read it while looking at my phone while walking in the countryside looking for things I want to forage, all at the same time without falling over a log.

And provides plant lovers with a much-needed resource for understanding nature’s most useful wild plants. My book covers forty-eight plants and includes multiple colour photographs for easy plant identification. Never rely on one source for plant identification, and never eat anything unless you are 100% sure it is edible. Each plant description tells us which parts of the plant can be used for food as well as how to use those parts. This did, however, help me to identify wild garlic in the early summer, which I foraged till I had no more room in my freezer!

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). I regard thiese as an essential part of the available information for any plant identification compilation.Hedgerows are a great place to find most of these plants, but do look around in woods and fields as many grow there too. The species mentioned in the book are growing in my surroundings (Cork,Ireland) which makes it practical and simple to use. Tell us why you liked or disliked the book; using examples and comparisons is a great way to do this. Very clear descriptions and uses of plants and in combination with the downloadable photo guide the book makes a real treat to read.
