Penultimate track "You've Got It Bad" was another single, and is a great Britpop song before the nearly eight minutes of closing track "Get Away", the longest track here. In fact, there's a pastoral poignancy to much of Moseley Shoals which owes more to, say, Fairport Convention than mentor/mate Paul Weller . Ocean Colour Scene (often abbreviated to OCS) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1989.

With its distinctive sound and heartfelt lyrics "Mosely Shoals" is a genuine timeless classic and was worth every one of the admittedly relatively few pennies I spent on my second-hand disc.Magic Carpet Days", the first single from Saturday, was released on 25 January, followed by the album a few days later. Moseley’ takes its name from an area in Birmingham, ‘Moseley Shoals’ is a tribute to Muscle Shoals, the legendary soul recording studios in Alabama.

We are available to book for live shows and events, as well as bespoke licensed music for videos, commercials, TV, film and more. A vinyl reissue of the second full length album from Ocean Colour Scene, originally released in 1996. It's another that could have come from the "White Album" as band mixes bucolic folk with a bit of blues before getting lost in a spell of extended what-does-that-knob-do twiddling but all the while remembering that they're a guitar-led rock band, it's at least as good a way to close the difficult second album as "Champagne Supernova" and that's saying something [and if anything here is close to mentor Paul Weller's solo sound then it's probably this track]. It's not the just songwriting or the playing that makes these songs so very good, that's not to say that the songwriting isn't good, it is, and so is the playing from all four musicians, but it's in the arrangements and the production by Bernard Lynch and OCS where their strength lies; they've really thrown in the bells and whistles, although perhaps not real bells and whistles, and that's what makes these songs work; they're collages of carefully arranged small fragments of sound that have been pasted together but not in a throw-in-the-kitchen-sink-and-make-everything-louder-than everything-else way, these songs been crafted with journeyman precision and it's an absolute joy to listen to them in my headphones. The EP received a 5 stars rating from Flick of the Finger, with the publication stating that 'Lushly textured, these four compelling and diverse new offerings are nothing short of brilliant. This support slot brought OCS to the attention of more record labels, and eventually in late 1995, the band signed with MCA Records.
